LYMANTRIIDAE


2026 The Vapourer Orgyia antiqua (Linnaeus, 1758)
1 adult male to light at Park road Elland on 12th September 2000(PT)
Singles at Hedge Top Lane on the 22nd and 23rd August 2002 and 1 on 1st September 2005 flying on hot summy days.
1 larve found by Halifax General Hospital 28th June  2007.(A&I Crystal)
1 larva Cromwell Bottom 28th June 2007 and 1  found  Only House wood Northowram 29th June 2008(AC)
A male and female photographed  in cop at Skircot Green,the female was seen egg laying  a few hours later laying hundereds of eggs 12th September 2008  .The larvae emerged on 9th May 2009(CS).

2028 Pale Tussock Calliteara pudibunda (Linnaeus, 1758)
Recorded as adults at light  between the first week in May and the  last week of June  6 at Park Road Elland on 15 May 1999 .The spectacular larvae(Hop Dog’s as they were once common in hop fields) has been seen  at Cromwell Bottom on the 3rd Oct 2005(PT) and at Alegar  Wood Brighouse  9th  October 2008(C.Sutcliffe)on efound on bracken near Copley Canal 28th August  and at Skircot Green feeding on silver Birch.19th October 2009 .p
Silver Birch.  
2029 Brown-tail Euproctis chrysorrhea (Linnaeus, 1758)
There are six old records for this species in Collinson s book and Porritt’s List it was recorded in VC 63 , but it is only now recorded at Spurn in VC61 and there are no recent records locally.

2030 Yellow-tail Euproctis similis (Fuessly, 1775)
Recorded in Elland and at Kebroyd in 1969, there are no other records.

2031 White Satin Moth Leucoma salicis (Linnaeus, 1758)
1 recorded from 1899 ‘larvae plentiful’ .12 larve were found in the Halifax area 1983 (WBa) No other records till one adult caught at light at Hedge Top Lane 8th August 2002(AC).
