2452 Red Underwing Catocala nupta (Linnaeus, 1767)

1 on 30^th August 1987 (J.Fletcher) was the first record for the area.

Attracted to light and sugar, records  fall between the 22 August – 4 October  from Park road , Sowerby Bridge, Northowram ,Todmorden and Gorpley Glough.Usually  only singles recorded but 2 on the 11.Sept.2000 at Park Road. 1 was watched flying during the day at park wood crematorium 30^th August 2002 (SW)

Severel recorded near Brighouse on the 29^th May 1984(BC)

Established at the eastern end of Calderdale , with reports from Crmowell Bottom ,Copley,Hebden Bridge, Clifton and Northowram in 2008.
