1 at light Moor End Gardens, Pellon on 8th August 2008(found NCD) (gen det AC)
1 at Skircot Green allotments on the 24th July 2010 (gen. Det. C.S)was found during the day with two similar moth present suggesting breeding at this site.
2082 Garden Dart (Linnaeus, 1761)
This moth was recorded for the first time in Calderdale at Kebroyd in 1959(2)
and in 1961(1) .it was then regarded as common in Yorkshire and was difficult to underdatand why it was scarce in Calderdale.It is now very scarce in Yorkshire but increasingly recorded in Calderdale,it could be said that the most reliablbe place in Yorkshire is Martyn’s back garden in Pellon. Between the 25th July and 29th September.

Abundant between 6th June and 13th October. It is not uncommon to record 100 + to light on a warm summer evening, The largest catch was of 299 at Park road Elland 21st Aug 2001 .(PT)
2109 Lesser Yellow Underwing Noctua comes Hübner, 1813
Common at light from 28th June to the 10th October.On the 30th August 2009 a specimen of the race saggitifer was recorded at Hedge top lane Northowram.(AC).53 at light Todmorden 29th August 2008 and 45 to light Hedge Top Lane Northowram 23rd August 2003.

Collinson wrote as abundant to light and sugar but there is only one recent record of one to light at Wyvern terrace 30th June 2009(MH)
2117 Autumnal Rustic Paradiarsia glareosa (Esper, 1788)
Recorded throughtout the area at light traps and the first adults can be seen on the wing from the 21st August until the 1st October.Larvae can be seen on the moors on wavy hair grass from early January to early March. 22 to light at Todmorden on 29th August 2009 was the maximum count.
2118 True Lover's Knot Lycophotia porphyrea ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)
This species is generally abundant especially around heather moorland. Recorded throughout the area at light traps. 36 to light at Withens Clough Car park 27th June 2009.This species can also be seen during the day feeding along Whiteholme drain in June.
2119 Pearly Underwing Peridroma saucia (Hb)
Collinson wrote of regular occurrence at light each year, there is only one recent record of 1 to sugar at Colden Clough on 23rd September 2006 (BL)

Recorded as abundant with varied colour forms up to 1969 and now regularly recorded at light traps throughout the area from 6th May – 25th August.

This species was considerered scarce in Yorkshire in the last century but has increased its range since 1970 this is the only record so far.

Recorded at light between 12th June and 16th August,the larvae can be found in April feeding on Greater woodrush.(BL).A large count of 58 to light at Knot wood hebden Bridgeo on the 17th July 2010.

2137 Great Brocade Eurois occulta (Linnaeus, 1758)
This spectacular migrant moth occurs rarely in Calderdale.1 at Pye nest in 1955, 4 at Kebroyd in 1964 and 1 at Todmorden on 23rd August 2007 (BL) all these records coninside with large influx’s into other parts of Yorkshire.
2138 Green Arches Anaplectoides prasina ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)
1 at sugar at Gorpley Clough on the 13th and 16th July 2001 (BL) were the first records for Calderdale it was then recorded at Park road Elland in 2002. In 2007 another 1 in Hebden Bridge.Then in 2008/9 a real explosion with 13 records from Hedge Top Lane ,Brookfoot,Hipperholme,Kebroyd and Hall wood.In 2010 recorded throughout calderdale with 12 to light at Knott Wood Hebden Bridge 2010.
2139 Red Chestnut Cerastis rubricosa ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)
Was said to be abundant at sallows and light up to 1963,there are a few recent records and increasing with more coverage .On the 19th April at Hardcastle Craggs and 21st April at Broadhead Clough 2002 ,1 at Hedge Top lane on the 18th April , 1st May 2006 and 5th May 2007 ,1 at Wyvern Terrace on 15th April 2007.1 at light in Todmorden 12th April 2009 and 7 to light at Withens Clough Car park April 2009. 24 to light at Knot wood Hebden 16th April 2010.
